1962 - USS Cusk (SS-348) Year by Year History

Crewmembers, Pictures and Memorabilia

In 1962 the Cusk was in WestPac which included a Cuban Missile Crisis deployment to the Yellow Sea south of Korea for a 28 day patrol.  Captain Campbell, CDR assumed command of the Cusk from LCDR W. T. Mawhiney.   Ports of call during this WestPac included a stop in Chin He, South Korea, two stops in Hong Kong for R&R and one in Kobe, Japan for training.  Other stops were made in Sasebo and Yokosuka, Japan, Okinawa, and Subic Bay, Philippines.

"Aloha" Patch, 1962

This patch was created shortly after the

AN/BPQ-1 (XN-1) Regulus guidance

equipment was removed.  At the time, the

Cusk was home-ported in Pearl Harbor
