1961 - USS Cusk (SS-348) Year by Year History

Crewmembers, Pictures and Memorabilia

1961 saw the end of the Cusk's 14 years of historical contributions to the U. S. Navy's missile programs as well as her more recent participation to the Regulus Missile program.  It was in September of this year that her Regulus Missile guidance equipment is removed from the old Missile Center below the mess deck, and the Cusk was redesignated SS-348.  After the missile control equipment was removed, it was replaced by the ECM (Electronic Counter Measures) equipment from its previous location portside aft in the Control room.
